My journey teaching yoga for seniors at VataVriksh Parent Care has been a profound exploration filled with love, learning, and beautiful discoveries. Over time, I’ve realized that yoga transcends physical postures—it’s about patience, presence, and deeply understanding the people you work with. Every session I lead with elderly is a masterclass in strength, focus, and finding inner peace.

This path is so much more than a job; it’s a true heart-calling, reminding me daily why I left my corporate life. The progress, the genuine smiles, and the unwavering trust of elderly parents bring me a sense of peace and joy unlike anything else.

The Power of Trust and Guidance at VataVriksh

I feel immensely grateful for the opportunity to teach and grow alongside the seniors at VataVriksh Parent Care. This wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support system around me.

I am deeply thankful to Dr. Ramesh Goyal, whose trust in me has allowed me to explore innovative ways to make accessible and enjoyable yoga a reality for our seniors. His belief is the foundation of my work here. My gratitude also extends to Dr. Subodh Kumar, who consistently encouraged me to broaden my knowledge of elderly health and wellness. His valuable suggestions and kind motivation inspired me to start sharing these experiences through articles like this one. Without their collective guidance, this rewarding journey would not have reached the heights it has.

A Magical Moment: Proving the Power of Focus and Chanting

One of the most memorable experiences that truly highlighted the power of this practice was a small experiment during a recent session.

I asked my students to sit comfortably with their legs straight and eyes gently closed. We then began placing yoga blocks on their legs—first one, then two, and finally three. The challenge: to slowly lift and balance the blocks while chanting “Om” together.

The result was extraordinary. Even with their eyes closed, relying purely on their internal focus and the vibrations of the chant, they balanced perfectly! They held the blocks steady for a remarkable 20–30 seconds without shaking.

That moment was pure magic. It powerfully demonstrated how the synergy of yoga, rhythmic chanting, and focused intent can dramatically enhance balance, core strength, and mental stability—especially in those who may have doubted their physical abilities. These small, consistent efforts are the engine for big, positive changes in their health and, most importantly, their confidence.

Yoga: More Than Exercise, It’s Connection

For me, the connection I share with the seniors at VataVriksh Parent Care is the ultimate reward. It is not just my work; it is my purpose. Every day reminds me that teaching senior yoga is a journey of mutual learning and deep human connection.
